Reiki Healing
What is Reiki?
The word Reiki (pronounced Ray Key) is a combination of two Japanese words rei and ki which translated mean “Universal Life Force Energy”. Reiki is an ancient healing technique that was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the 1900’s.
Reiki is holistic and treats the whole being to ‘accelerate’ and ‘boost’ the natural healing processes, healing and balancing the body, mind and spirit. Reiki is powerful yet safe, gentle and non intrusive and works in harmony with the body. There are no contra indications to the use of Reiki. It is complementary to all other treatments including prescription medicines.
Who can give and receive Reiki?
A person has to be attuned to Reiki in order to practice Reiki healing. This opens their energy channels so that they can direct Universal Life Force Energy. The energy does not come from the energy of the practitioner’s body so the Reiki flow is not affected by the health of the practitioner.
Reiki is practised by people of all persuasions; it is not tied to any particular religion or philosophy. You do not have to have a specific belief system to receive Reiki. Reiki can be used for people and animals. Animals are highly sensitive to Reiki and can react to it faster than humans.
What can it help with?
Reiki can help on many levels and can be effective in many wide ranging situations. Specifically it may help with:
- Maintenance of health and wellbeing
- Speeding up recovery from physical illness of injury
- Emotional issues such as trauma, neglect, fear or lack of trust
- Calming and reducing stress and hyperactivity in highly strung individuals
- Energising and revitalising the old or sick
- Pain management
- Providing comfort, pain relief and making the transition more peaceful for those nearing end of life
Reiki always treats at the root cause level and will go to the place of the greatest disharmony. As Reiki channels directly to the source of the issue there is no need for diagnosis for Reiki to be used and to be effective.
Reiki can be given by the laying of hands on the individual or by sending it distantly.
